Favourite Things Friday

It's Friday and that can mean only one thing, Favourite Things Friday.

Yay. It's back!

For the first FTF for 2012, it has to be about the summer fruit that is in season now. One of my favourites at the moment, cherries. I love fresh cherries, not so much canned, or cherry flavoured things, but lovely fresh, dark, glistening, plump, juicy cherries, mmmmmmmmmmm. They are really hard to find during the rest of the year, but at the moment the local cherries are at their best. I can't get enough of them.

They are multi purpose too, when you find two attached together you can make earrings out of them. There's not many fruit that can do that!
Pop on over to Shay's new pad, (she's been redecorating over the Christmas break), and see lots more favourites for the first week of 2012.

  2. Oh yum! I LOVE cherries too! And there is some cute cherry fabrics out there if you so desire! BTW cherries aren't around for long because they spoil easily when it rains (at least that's what my Mum told me!)

  3. Cherries? In January? Are you mad? Round here, in January, they taste like .... well.... they don't taste of anything. Just hard lumps!

By the way, you can try the earing thing with bananas, but they ae a little cumbersome!

  4. Reminds me of the delicious cherries we used to get in France and I once brought some back from a holiday in Turkey (in the days when it was permitted to do so). Summer eh?! Not here and certainly no cherries in the shops now!

  5. Cherries! I've been eating kilos of them, either from the local market when Ive got my stall there, or from a local grower where I go on holidays. Have you tried the white ones?

  6. I'm with you on this one Marg. I love those huge , dark red, very firm ones.
In this modern day, with all the fantastic scientific knowledge there is out there I'm waiting for them to develop a cherry as big as an apple. Then I'll be really happy!
    Cheers

  7. I love Cherries. The dark red ones are my favourites too. I'm waiting for them to develop a cherry without a pip and then I'll be completely happy.

As much as I dont like vegies much I do LOVE summer fruit. Your post made me put cherries on my shopping list !

  8. Cherries were best when I was in Canada and we bought them straight from the farmer at the road side stalls. I miss those stalls!

  9. Yummy favourite, Marg! The only thing better than fresh cherries from the market, are those plucked right off the tree. Excellent favourite! Happy Friday night! ☺

  10. Yum....you know you can freeze those pretty easily. I don't even pit them first. They make a great sauce for chocolate meringues.
Thanks for sharing, marg! I love Helen's idea of an apple-sized cherry! :)

  15. I couldn't agree more, cherries are sooo good, and supposedly good for arthritis. How many tasty treats can boast that fact?
