I'm back...at least I hope I am

Yay, finally unpacked (sort of, I still have eleventy hundred boxes in the garage that need to be opened and places found for everything that is in them), but at least the rest of the house is pretty much unpacked, except...............

My sewing room is a total disaster zone.  I'm trying to bribe people with a holiday in paradise so that they can come and organise my sewing room for me.

The day we officially moved in I was greeted by this-

Furry cute cuddly (well kind of cuddly, at least they look cuddly even if they don't particularly like being cuddled) wildlife for a change, instead of great big huge scary spiders, humungous pythons, bats, ticks, and all the other icky creatures that used to be found in and around the old Chez Sunshine.  Contrary to what some people think, yes Shay, I did not cut and paste the koala on to the palm tree.
I lived at the last house out in the country for 13 years and never saw a koala, ever. I move to suburbia, and on the first day, lo and behold, a koala in a palm tree in my garden. I think that must be a very auspicious sign.

Even though my sewing room is a total disaster, I've set up the sewing machine and searched through boxes to find some of my stash so that I could work on the Mouthy Stitches Swap. I've really enjoyed stalking my partner and I hope this reflects both her mosaic and her brief. If not, I'm in trouble.

I still have to embroider the centre and cut out the pieces for the tote but at least I'm on my way to getting it finished.  I spent today trying to find some hardware to make the key fob that is to go with it.  This evening I'm hoping to work on the embroidery or the key fob. Unfortunately this house has no power points in the living area, so all my lamps that I had in the last house are useless. It also makes it difficult to sit and watch tv and hand sew.  I'm crossing my fingers that somehow there will be a solution.
Hopefully I'll be back to regular blogging now that I have the computer set up, internet, and about 5 mins a day where I'm not unpacking or cleaning so that I can take photos and start blogging regularly again. It would be nice too, to be able to sit and enjoy the new view.

PS  I'm really sorry that I haven't been able to catch up on blog posts and leave comments. I tried to at least read a few in between the mayhem of moving but I still have over 1000 posts in google reader. I think it may be time to hit delete, but  yikes, what am I going to miss though?

  1. Welcome back!! That koala has to be a great sign of how wonderful the future will be in your new house! I love your pretty pink and blue Dresden! If I wasn't working I'd be up in a flash to sort out your sewing room! One day...

  2. Glad the move went well and hope you eventually get through all those boxes - moving is a bit of a nightmare isn't it? However you have a lovely view when you have a moment to appreciate it and at least it is warm and sunny where you are! I can't imagine finding time to start on a patchwork so soon after moving in and I'd press delete and start afresh I think with all those blogs!

  6. If that's not a good omen to be welcomed by your very own Koala! I never manages to see one in the wild when we lived in Australia. Yes, moving can be very exhausting, but on the other hand, it's the best way to organize and get rid of stuff, don't you agree? Hope you'll be able to tackle the remaining boxes soon so you'll be able to sew and blog again.

  7. Your new environment looks lovely. I know what you mean about the google reader snowball....I turned a blind eye for four days and came back to an avalanche of blog posts. I have slowly been trawling through because, like you, I'm afraid I may have missed something. For example, there seems to be some "low volume" quilt craze out there and I have totally missed it!

  15. It sounds like you are getting settled and the koala is a very cute welcome to the neighbourhood visitor. Your dresden is so pretty and I hope you get the extension cords out so you can hand sew in a comfy chair.

  18. Yay! You're finally in your new house. I'd totally come and help you unpack if I could get more time off.

You'll get it all sorted out in no time - the boxes, the sewing room, and everything else. For now - it's probably time to put your feet up and enjoy your view and your beautiful new home !

  19. Seriously, hit delete. Life's too short.
So does the koala live there or was he just passing through? He's mighty cute although might be a bit dim as he's going to have trouble getting gum leaves off a palm.
Happy sewing in your new space!

  21. What a beautiful new view you have! Poor Mr Koala is looking very lost up that palm tree....
I don't envy you having to unpack all those boxes. But no doubt you will be settled in, in no time at all.

  22. Hooray! to be moved .. the boxes can wait. I'd love to come there an organize your sewing room, but I don't have a passport :(. How fun to see a koala bear in your yard. Welcome back. I've missed you.

  23. Congrats on getting moved and kinda, sorta unpacked. Your swap project looks great. Looking forward to seeing what's new in your neck of the woods not that you're getting setteled in. Love the koala bear. The only wildlife I've seen recently is the possum that ran in front of Drama Teen and I Saturday night. Possums are definitely not cute!

  24. What an adorable palm tree accessory! Makes me think of the time we were in Hawaii and went on what was billed as a spinner dolphin catamaran adventure--we saw no dolphins. Then when we got home and went to a beach party there was a big school of dolphins that kept cruising up and down the shore, close in, over and over.

Your stalking surely will pay off with that charming Dresden.

Hope you solve your lighting problem--I can't do any sewing in my living room at night either!

  25. Glad you are in and beginning to get straight. The only wildlife I see is foxs so very impressed with your koala!

  27. I am so glad you are back and getting settled. I see you have found another beautiful view to look at! My mother is in Australia right now visiting her cousin! I wish I could have gone with her and made a side trip to see you and Shay!

Love the colors you chose and I bet your partner will be tickled pink!

  28. How wonderful to have that koala in your garden to welcome you. Which suburb are you in. I would offer to come and help you with your sewing room but have vowed that my travelling days are over....well I suppose until the next grandchilds wedding....or invite to mind the sons pups while they go off gallivanting.

It is good to have you back Marg. Good luck with the boxes.
