As usual, not a lot to show, but I have had a finish and almost a finished quilt top.
What have I been doing? Not much really. Life has been tootling on and I just don't seem to have the time or inclination to get into my freshly rearranged and tidied sewing room.
A bit of this
and Scooter is finished.

Crinkly after washing |
Speaking of J, she has started on a hand sewing project which is absolutely gorgeous. Personally, I think she is crazy, but unlike me, J is disciplined and will finish her projects.
These are the first two blocks she has completed. Only 18 to go!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also played with Kirsty a couple of weeks ago. We went to the Brisbane Stitches and Craft Show, you can read all about it here. I bought a few things, including these blues.
Wow, Kirsty is a great photographer, but she introduced me to Happy Street, a time sucking game that is addictive. I want to curse her. I have Angry Birds on my iPad and phone and hardly ever play it, so was delightfully, blissfully unaware of what would happen to me if I started playing Happy Street. Take my advice and don't play it, but if you do, I would love to be your friend so that I can move through the levels quicker, mwah ha haa. It is addictive. Be warned.
A couple of weekends ago I pulled out this pile of fabric and started cutting.
Fabric pull |
I swore,
quite a bit,
took a breath,
and then had a play.
I used the off cuts from the WOF strips and added them to the charm squares to make them big enough to cut, and voila, an interesting addition to the layout.
Two pairs of rows ready to be sewn together |
That was a couple of weeks ago, and I still haven't finished the top. I've sewed the rows and even sewed pairs of rows together, and I'm crossing everything that I will have this project finished very soon, so that I can move on to something else.
Hee hee, sorry Marg. But the first step is admitting that you have a problem, so you are already on the road to recovery. How can a game called Happy Street be bad?
ReplyDeleteLove the navy and grass green together, so fresh. Great idea with the extra width to your triangles - dare I say it's the bit I like most. You could really use up some scraps with that idea too. (especially with the accuquilt).
You have a lot going on! It all looks beautiful. I think Scooter is very interesting, I like the way it got crinkly. Gelato Rose is going to be a beautiful project, J is doing a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteI already said it, but I really love the scooter quilt. It's going to be lovely in a little boy's room. Bravo for being creative with those triangles. I think it looks great and definitely more interesting.
ReplyDeletelol - know what you mean....loving what you've sewn though - scooter and your triangles say 'marg' to me - gorgeous
ReplyDeleteYou are being very constrained wanting to finish your triangles before starting something else! I love the scooter quilt too! Trust Kirsty to lead you astray! I'm off to check out Happy Street! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove what you have been doing...the Gelato Rose blocks are quite yummy!
ReplyDeleteI love that Scooter quilt and the triangles. It is a bugger that you aren't happy with the scooters though, I hate when that happens.
ReplyDeleteLots of beautiful projects Marg....love scooter.
ReplyDeleteOHhhh love the way the navy and greens go together. It's going to be really striking. Scooter is great too.
ReplyDeleteI am exhausted after reading this! No wonder you haven't posted for 3 weeks! :) LOVE your stuff girlfriend!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back. Was starting to worry, you had gone into your new sewing room never to be seen again. Love the triangles and the colours keep going.
ReplyDeleteI was beginning to wonder if you'd gone on holidays.. I love your Scooter quilt! It has to one of the best baby boy quilts I've seen. Your triangles are brilliant with their chopped up bits. Now I'm tempted to check out Happy Street, but I'm not going to...Those Gelato Rose blocks are so pretty. I've seen the original quilt and loved it .

ReplyDeleteScooter is beautiful even if it isnt floating your boat. Im sure the kid recipient and the parent will love it.
Hello Blues! Some lovely finds amongst your craft and stitches haul. I bet you had a ball with Kirsty!
And seriously I adore the colours in your triangle quilt. So fresh and modern. You really do have a knack for pulling fabrics from your stash and making them shine!
Finishing a project you say? Now there's a concept... I do like the scooters though!
ReplyDeleteI love Scooter too, I think it will be well loved.
ReplyDeleteAnd I like how you approach your projects ;-) As you say, more design options :-)
Scooter is so cute! Any little boy would love it.
ReplyDeleteI like the green with the black and white in your new project. It's great that you worked with what you had and didn't abandon it when you hit that snag.
Scooter is an adorable baby quilt!
ReplyDeleteLove the blue and green triangle project too - one of my fav fresh color combos. I'm so glad you found a way to make it work - you'll probably like the quilt even better for it :)
Scooter came out wonderfully! I hope someday you can forgive yourself for not making it match the vision in your head :) I know about those visions myself!
ReplyDeleteLove your creative twist on a MATH complication. One of a kind even more strongly fashioned under your cutting tool, needle and thread.
I think Scooter is brilliant, love your colour choices, and you have been very quiet, I thought you had fallen off my Bloglovin list.
ReplyDeleteDisappeared for a mere three weeks? Pshaw! :p
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in your green, black, and white quilt. Can't wait to see it when it grows up.
A gorgeous array of fabrics, colours and projects. Plenty to lose yourself in for a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteWow you impress me so much with your productivity. All those gorgeous fabrics are very tempting to start new projects.
