And now for something completely different.

When a very very good friend who doesn't crochet, kept on pinning lots and lots and lots of crochet related pins on Pinterest, I had to ask myself, WHY?

Was it because this friend was so excited by my crocheting skills that she really wanted to start crocheting like she said she did three years ago,  when I bought her a how to crochet book, some yarn and some hooks, none of which has been touched since.  Or, was it because she was trying to be subtle, hinting that she would like me to make something for her?

Having heard the swear words after her last attempt at crocheting, I concluded that it was her cunning plan to get me to crochet something for her.

What to make?  After a lot of deliberation I decided on something that would be useful and bright and cheery.

What exactly is it? You ask.

It's a bag.

I followed the tutorial on Attic 24. There are fabulous crochet tutorials by Lucy on her blog, very good for beginners.

(That's a not so subtle hint for my friend!)

  2. Oh wow, that is awesome! As another non-crocheter I am always amazed by what can be produced, always so pretty. Love the pic of the bottom, the rounds are super cheery.
I might have to start pinning crochet projects too, ahem. ;)

  4. WOW! That is gorgeous Marg! I have tried to crochet a couple of times and gave up in desperation so I can only imagine how long this took you! I love the colours! It would make a good beach bag! If you've found your crochet mojo, I could "hint, hint" too!

  5. Now, do I remember you giving personal, one-to-one tuition to that friend on one of your visits??? Very nice of you to make her something anyway and you do crochet so nicely too!

  7. I love the Lucy bag. I've made two of them now, one as a project bag for my yarn and another for my daughter to use for ballet class.

  10. Its been my experience that you're either able to crochet or you cant. Perhaps your friend has other talents? And why would she learn a skill when she already has such a wonderful friend to make beautiful things for her?

I use that bag all the time and it's gorgeous. And Im never going to master crochet ...ever....

  16. Great job, Marg! Is it kind of relaxing once you get the hang of it? Maybe that's what I need to do - learn to knit or crochet?
