Favourite Things Friday

Ooh it's Friday again and it's time to link up with Shay at Quilting In My Pyjamas for FTF.  This week has gone slowly for a change, especially watching Cyclone Yasi in northern Queensland, fortunately there has been just one death and at this stage only two people missing, in a category 5 that is amazing, we have been so very lucky and also very prepared this time. It was great to see that all the government agencies were working together so cohesively to try and minimise the loss of life. Now they have to show that they can co-ordinate the clean up and repair.
I think Anna Bligh is doing a fabulous job and I almost chose the Queensland Government as my favourite this week, but that would probably mean that hell has frozen over, so rather than having that dilemma I have chosen my coffee machine as my favourite instead.

I bought this machine, a De Longhi Nespresso, last year as I do enjoy a coffee but I don't always like to drink the same type, quite often I like milder coffees or decaf (I know, shock horror and it's probably something I shouldn't admit to in public). It's either decaf or I'm awake all night. I used to buy beans, grind them and then store them in the freezer to last, but they would disappear to the back never to be seen again, and I also don't drink that much coffee and it would take f.o.r.e.v.e.r. to use them.
This is where this little baby comes into it's own. Most of my friends drink strong coffee so now I can have a variety of coffees on hand to suit most people, I don't have to worry about making a perfect coffee it makes it for me, the coffee doesn't deteriorate, AND I'm not wasting it, AND it makes a great cappuccino.

Buying this machine had nothing to do with * George......snort!

  1. I was going to ask if George had anything to do with it .. however, it looks like a great machine.

  3. Nespressos are rampant here in Europe, and was one of the first appliances we bought when we got here! (only saw the George ads after purchase, I promise). Do you get the Christmas flavours in Australia? Here they release 3 limited edition flavours just for December (vanilla, almond and caramel this year). Happy brewing!

  6. Anything that makes good coffee easier and faster has to become a favorite thing.

  7. Fabulous favourite...especially since I had to get out in the cold, wet weather this AM when I found my cupboard void of coffee. Your machine is shiny and lovely. Thanks for sharing. Happy FTF! :o)

  8. great favourite!

I don't know what I'd do without coffee - oh, yeah - I'd be extremely grumpy!

We still have a coffeemaker that brews coffee, but I have to say, we're one of those that love the strong stuff!

  10. My heart went pitter patter when I saw your coffee machine Marg. I am a coffee-a-holic. I simply could not survive without the stuff...

I used to have a coffee machine - but it was smarter than I was and so it ended up in the shed.

And that sign you have there - I almost bought one of those when I was doing up the kitchen. Twins- I tell you.

    Loved this FTF.

  11. Great FtF..I don´t drink coffee but my husband does, and since he doesn´t drink tons of it he also has a capsule machine. Cool stuff.

  12. Took me a minute to get the "George" comment. We don't have those commercials on the shows that I watch!

Coffee is pretty much the elixer of life in our house. Love your shiny coffee maker! Great FTF!

  13. I'm not much of a coffee person, but if there was a similar machine for milkshakes, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

    With or without Clooney's encouragement.

Currently I put icecream and milk in an old mayonnaise jar and shake it. It doesn't look nearly as nice sitting on the bench :(

  14. Looks fabulous! I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I think I'd be pretty easily convinced to have a cup from that machine.

  15. I know what you mean about Anna Bligh. She has done a great job through all these crises hasn't she?
Don't know about coffee machines, I don't have one and actually am very happy with my instant ( I know I'm a philistine !!)
    Cheers
