WIP Wednesday

I think I've missed at least two if not three WIP Wednesdays. The last couple of weeks at Chez Sunshine, I've been concentrating on the two swaps I'm in.

I've been working away at the Mouthy Stitches zippered pouch. I love English paper piecing, it's relaxing but it's slow. You can see some more close ups of it here.

It's finished and today it has been sent off to it's new home with fabric scraps tucked neatly inside.

I finished the Name Game Swap mini quilt, sorry, the big smudge in the middle is where I've blurred the name, I can't reveal that part yet as I still haven't sent it to my partner.

Name Game Swap

I made the label yesterday and was in the process of sewing it on when we had a massive thunderstorm and the power was out for almost 6 hours.  I'm hoping to finish it this afternoon, that's if we don't have another storm.

Tiggly Winks pattern
I've also been hand quilting Tiggly Winks. It has been a real struggle to try and summon up the enthusiasm to work on it. It's about 3/4 finished and I've made the decision I just don't like it. Life is short and I'd rather spend my valuable time working on something else.
It is now officially being put in a bag and stuffed in the back of the cupboard.  Maybe one day I'll bring it out again and maybe I might like it enough to finish it. Then again........I doubt it!

Over the weekend I had a very strong urge to make something new, that would be quick to finish and not make me think too much.  I had to think way too much making that pouch!
Baby quilt
I whipped up a baby quilt, you can read more about it here.

  5. Ooh love the pouch, but L.O.V.E the name game quilt - trying to work out if the blurred bit could fit my name... here's hoping!

  6. That pouch is super. Shame about the quilt going into the cupboard but if you are not feeling the love, can't be helped.
I see you are following the FP for the terrified - expecting great things!!

  7. Seriously, that pouch is just the bomb. So gorgeous.
I have a few projects that I just don't finish. I struggled with this (wasteful, lack of perseverance, other names I threw at myself) but came to the same conclusion as you - life is too short. It will either be dusted off later, or used as a FMQ practice quilt when I one day get the guts to try it. So I'm with you, Marg!

  8. NO NO NO NO NO!
Don't do that to the Tiggy Winks quilt. You absolutely can't. I forbid it! Not when it's 3/4 finished
if it was an average sort of a quilt, I would probably agree with you. But it's absolutely beautiful, and even if you don't like it, I'm sure you can find someone who would love it.
    PLEASE! FINISH IT!
If I lived near you I'd finish it for you!

  9. Care to do a tutorial on English Paper Piecing? I can't wrap my head around it, and you seem to be a master! While I can appreciate your frustration with Tigglywinks, I absolutely adore it! It's simply gorgeous. Hope you find some love for it. ☺

PS...My Flurry sits in the corner mocking me. I can't bring myself to quilt it, for fear of ruining it.

Fabulous post, Marg. Thanks for sharing all the lovelies. Happy Wednesday night! ☺

  28. Gorgeous brights with that grey and wonderful stitching. Your partner should be amazed and thrilled--I would be! Sorry you aren't finding the love for the hand quilted project. I'm finding it slow going too and am only working on a doll size quilt!

  29. I love all your projects. I'd love an English piecing tutorial too .. or perhaps a sew-a-long?

  30. The paper-piecing projects are just lovely. You have a wonderful eye for color. The baby quilt ~ adorable.

As for Tiggly Winks, it's really not my color scheme, but it's a beautiful design. I'm not sure why you don't like it. I gave up on a quilt whose colors just did not sing to me. I ended up selling the partially finished top on ebay. The person who bought it adored the colors and the design. I kicked myself for not getting rid of the thing sooner.
