Tuesday tidbits (and tails)

Another two of my orders arrived this week. The first one, I had been looking for some yardage of Pashmina for some time and thanks to Shay who was so kind in helping me spend my money by directing me to Quiltshops.com where I found these gorgeous prints. I don't have a project in mind for these but I love the designs so will add them to my stash.

I also saw and ordered these fabulous brights before the end of the year, Sugar Pop these came from Pink Chalk Fabrics along with some solids, no photo of those! So these definitely don't count as fabric purchases for 2011!

Whilst I was emptying out my bank account to keep the world's economy kicking along I also bought this, on sale, yay. Quilt-Pro 5 for Macintosh.

It came in the mail today, I've yet to load it and play with it but expect fabulous designs from me in the future. On second thoughts don't expect anything, I'd be kidding myself if I thought this was going to make me any more productive.  At least it should be fun designing things, much better than scribbling on graph paper and trying to work out mathematical stuff in my head.

I've slowly been working on the crochet, no photos yet, and I finished the top of my dad's quilt.

Sorry the photos aren't the best i was planning to take them this afternoon but we had a thunderstorm and then drizzle for the next couple of hours so I had to take them late in the day and the light wasn't the best.

I'm really happy with this one. It's not fabric I would normally choose for my father but they asked for something to match this quilt I made for my mum. So here it is, now I just have to make the backing. I HATE making the backing for quilts. Yes that is a strong word to use but I really really don't like making them.

A slightly blurry shot of the boy, he wouldn't keep still for a photo, but I love that look on his face, look at those big sad eyes.  Every photo we took of him this week was either blurry or only part of him made it into the shot.
I woke him up, he wasn't happy, not that you can tell, and he has bed head fur.

Oh, and thanks very much RAF.

  1. love your dad's quilt - is that sunlight I see in the background???

your dogs are adorable - love the bed-head-fur!

your new material is really nice - I love the colors and patterns - can't wait to see what you do with your new software program.

  2. There's always lots of yummy stuff at your house. Love all those fabrics and your Dad's quilt. I hate the way the sun hides when you need to take photos. I'm with you on the backing. It's just a bit tedious! You'll have fun designing quilts on your computer!

  3. You are going to have so much fun with those gorgeous fabrics. Love your dad;s quilt too. Have you seen my friend Di's blog at http://dinkydideequilts.blogspot.com/

she is a quilter too and you might enjoy looking at her work.

    x shirley

  4. Laughing at "bed head fur. " Do you think Doodles knows he needs a hairbrush?

Love your Dad's quilt top , It turned out awesome-ly. I feel the same way about quilt backs. Maybe we should make the back first !

And Stop blaming me for your lack of will. I was trying to be helpful...

  5. Your little boy is very cute Marg!

Yep, quilt backing is a blah job but someones gotta do it! Ive been getting into pieced backings ,just simple and its fun! Otherwise i use whole vintage sheets (new ones) or chenille bedspreads!

    Love your dads quilt!

  6. That Pashmina is gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. Love those colours.
Yes, quilt backs are a bit of an anti climax, but at least it means you're getting closer to being finished!
I have EQ7 and still haven't loaded it up (naughty) as I need some thingy to make it work on our Mac. I didn't even know about Quilt Pro, which I really should have researched before I bought. Probably a lot easier to use a for Mac product. Duh.

  7. Your Dad's quilt turned out great - I love the odd splash of solid red - really nice!

Your poochies are CUTE and bed-hair fur totally adds to the cute factor.

Yummy stash - you must have quite the collection now but at least you have the software to deal with it all :0) have fun x

  8. I LOVE that first set of fabrics!! I'll just pretend they are mine :-) Fabric diet happy (well NOT really happy but..!!) going well :-) Your Dad'd quilt looks great. I love your dog! That face!! We so need a dog...

  9. Love the first lot of new material. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
I've only made two quilts but I buy the special stuff for the backing that is big enough to do it in one piece - but then I send mine off to be quilted too!

  10. He has such an adorable little face...how could you ever be mad at him??? Your dad's quilt looks lovely and I'm loving those new fabrics, can't wait to see what you do with the top ones!! Georgous!!
