I didn't realise it was a favourite until today when I couldn't do it! It's something I have always taken for granted. When I do my grocery shopping I automatically assume that most things on my list will be sitting waiting for me to choose them and take them home.
Unfortunately the supply of fresh fruit and vegetables is going to be a little erratic and slow at the moment due to the floods. Today when I went to the supermarket they had avocadoes, bananas (we live in Queensland they always have those, lol) pumpkin (squash), cucumbers, mushrooms, celery, some iceberg lettuce, oranges, lemons, a few grapes and that was about it. No potatoes, onions, capsicum (red pepper), tomatoes, spinach, apples, or just about anything else you can think of. I was lucky they had some produce, apparently one of the larger supermarkets in the tourist area had no fruit and vegetables at all!
Fortunately we also have a couple of local fruit and vegetable shops in the area who are supplied by local producers, and they had a much better range. A big thank you to the local fruit and vegetable growers who through a lot of hard work supply us with our produce. Oh and a thank you to the locals who didn't panic buy at the slightest rumour that we may have a shortage of supply for the next few weeks.
