Favourite Things Friday

It's Friday and that means it's time to link up to Mrs P at Quilting In My Pyjamas.

This week my favourite thing is my computer in the kitchen.

When I renovated a couple of years ago, I swapped the living room with the kitchen. Most people thought I was stark raving bonkers, but I had a plan, and that plan was brilliant, even if I do say so myself.  It flows much better, it is in a much better part of the house, and opens up directly to the verandah. It also has a special place for my computer.
That's the late afternoon sunlight through the blinds, I love the shadows it creates.
There's Arnold who lives way up there above the computer, it's the only place in the house where he is not likely to be eaten.

I love having my computer in the kitchen. It's central, I can use it for recipes and have them up on the screen while I'm cooking. I can check emails and blogs while I'm cooking supposed to be cooking and I am close to all the action. I can Skype with friends and still work in the kitchen too.

The only downside
There is a nice little space to the side and behind just perfect for
my problem child to sit
and play, yes he is upside down
and plan attacks on his sister
and annoy the hell out of me, messing up my nice pile of crap that is sitting behind the computer

but he is so cute, hmm, maybe not so much..........what's next......................

  1. Great FTF...so neat to have your computer so close to the action. I love your problem child and the sly pic peeking out from around the screen. So cute.

  2. That's gorgeous, if you timed it right it would look like your computer had legs and a tail.

I agree that the kitchen is a much more practical room. It has benches to quilt on, for one thing.

  3. Agreed that the kitchen is a great place for your computer .. looks like it is far enough away from the stove but close enough to check things out.

love the kitties .. they like the warmth and attention, I'm sure.

  5. Ha! Cats really are crazy creatures. Whenever the kids would sit on the floor to draw or color or do homework, our cat would always try to grab the pencil or color from their hand. They could never get anything done. Hope your Friday is a good one. Tammy

  6. What a great idea to put the 'puter in the kitchen, Marg! Well worth the annoyance and disturbances your furry children might cause. LOL Thanks for sharing. Happy FTF! :o)

  7. How nice to have the computer right where all the action is. The cats seem to think so too, I see! I like your wall color in there with the white accents.

  8. Your cat is so cute. I am glad you enjoy your computer in the kitchen. I dont like being in my kitchen enough to set up my computer in the kitchen. I only have a kitchen because it came with my house.

    Great post.

  9. I loved visiting you, Marg. First your new header is fabulous!! Then you demonstrate how sensible it is to have a computer in a kitchen, and then you have me in hysterics over the antics of your furry babies. So cute and funny!!

  10. I'm pretty sure Bailey is a ninja cat, striking when you least expect it and making plans for world domination...

A computer in your kitchen is a very handy thing and I love the idea of a nook for computer-ing. It would save me from running between the computer room and the kitchen when Im cooking recipes off the internet...

Why havent we met Arnold before?

  11. I love your white cabinets and the blue paint on the wall is so beautiful. It looks very crisp and clean. I used to keep my computer in the kitchen, but I hated the pile of crap that accompanied it, so I moved it out. It looks like you have a lovely spot for yours! Thanks for a great FTF.
