Favourite Things Friday

FTF crept up on me today, and I've been trying to think all day about what to post as my favourite for this week, so I went and had a little lie down power thinking session in my hammock, where I had a light bulb moment.  This week and pretty much every week, my hammock is my favourite thing. I'm sort of cheating a bit here as I did include the hammock in a previous FTF post on my verandah.
I don't actually use the quilt or a pillow in summer as it's too warm. The hammock is cotton and the breeze comes right through so keeps me cool, which is great on a summer day that is warm and humid. Sorry I'm not trying to rub it in that it's lovely summer weather here while the northern hemisphere is freezing and covered in snow. In the winter when it's cooler I'll be able to lie on the hammock wrapped up in my quilts, yay!

This is how my hammock normally looks but it isn't quite as appealing for a photo as the previous one, it just looks all sad and droopy.
Look at the sunshine in the background, yes it is sunshine Kirsten, we have had 5 days in a row with no r_ _ _, yippeeeeee!!!!!!! I'm not typing that word as I don't want to jinx the weather!
There are no photos of me in the hammock because I didn't want anybody asking themselves - "Why does Margaret have photos of a whale hanging in a fishing net on her verandah?" Instead you just get to see photos of my hammock and the view I have when I'm lying in it.

  1. Hammocks are great! My aunt and uncle used to have one and I loved it. Don't know why I don't have one; perhaps because I don't have a verandah. I love the view and it looks like a wonderful place to relax!

  4. Your view is beautiful, looks like you have a good sized block. I love hammocks, although they are hard to get out of once you've had a few drinks!

  5. I'd be in that hammock as much as possible with a view like that! I love it. That quilt is so pretty too.

  6. I'm jealous of anyone who can stay in a hammock - I'm terribly unco and tend to get unceremoniously dumped on a regular basis :(

  7. Oh my, how can you ever leave it? I have a hammock at the cottage and just haven't found a spot to put it, now you've inspired me...it's going up this summer for sure!

  9. Marg, your hammock looks very comfortable. I have always wanted to lay in one, but was afraid I would roll out and bust my butt! The veiws from your porch are stunning and I am so glad to see the sun - even if it is in your photo!

If you ever get tired of the sun, come on over for a visit! We will make snowmen together!

  12. OMG - you are hilarious!! Firstly the sad and droopy (my though... aren't we all rofl) and then the whale in a net thing - it's a good job I'm in a room by myself so no-one can hear me howling with laughter at a computer screen! Love it :0) you are brill!

Nice hammock too but I think you just qualified as my FTF

  13. Wow! That would definitely be a favorite thing for me too. I have a hammock that I take camping and string between the trees, but OH to have one at home! Delightful!

  15. It's good you have a place to "hang out" that inspires you so. Great FTF.

  16. I've never tried to get in a hammock and if I did it would have to be somewhere in total privacy because I know deep in my soul that it would be a complete farce. It would end up like one of those cartoons, spinning round and falling on the floor or getting so tangled I'd be stuck!

  17. Hang another hammock, because I'm on my way down. Your view is absolutely gorgeous and I can feel the cool breeze as I read. What a lovely FTF!
