Another fun weekend almost over.
Yesterday I had to go out during the day so didn't get very crafty, and in the evening I had a fabulous time out with friends. We went out for pre-dinner drinks and dinner. The temperature was milder than last week, so we sat at an outdoor bar and listened to a very talented singer/musician and then had a fabulous meal. No photos as it was really dark, we even had to use the table candles to try and read the menu!
I spent almost all day in my pyjamas today, I love sewing when I'm in my pj's, they are so comfortable.
On Friday night I started some raw edge applique and the machine went really well, but when I went back to it Fanny Pfaff had a phit, and made it abundantly clear she didn't want to sew free motion any more.
This is a sneak peek at what I was doing before Fanny stopped playing nice. The button hole stitching is one of the programmed stitches in the machine.
I've finished 21 of these blocks now, so put them up on my design wall to see how they look. I love them, but I'm not jumping at the chance to finish the last 18. I might try doing them later in the week.
Anther pieced flower that I made one evening.
Block 3 in the Mystery Quilt I chickened out of doing the paper pieced one, I might try it during the week.
I haven't been struck by lightning yet for mixing Kaffe and batiks. I'm not normally a fan of batiks but I really love the way these combine.

#$%&*@ Pfaff! Theres nothing worse than getting all geared up to do something and it all turns pearshaped.
ReplyDeleteIts gorgeous what you were doing it looks like a little dandelion. The floral blocks look fantastic all together, the colours are really pretty. Im loving your kaffe's and batiks -awesome!
Would love to join the pj party but ive just done a market AND a four year old birthday party, i think i need a little lie down....
Some lovely work youve done there! Bummer about the machine....mine plays up with free-motion sometimes too (but shes a Janome).
ReplyDeleteI'm already in my PJs but no sewing for me, Ive been selling at a market most of the day :-)
Loving those flower blocks - keep going, keep going! And using the button hole stitch to applique - brilliant - must test out the different stitches on my machine too and see what they look like for applique. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to have Pyjama Party Sundays. I too love doing that, but never really dared to admit to it ;). I'm glad that there are other folks out there doing the same. Sorry to hear about the problems with your machine, that's so frustrating, isn't it. I love your tulips, such fresh and pretty colours.
ReplyDeleteI love your lotus flower blocks - they look so pretty. And how cool is that buttonhole stitch it really adds an extra dimension to the appliqué - just a pain that Fanny Pfaff doesn't want to play.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fabulous evening out with friends. I'm loving the paper pieced flowers and your mystery block is very effective.
Gee Marg I love that new quilt. When you showed us a few of the finished blocks I wasn't sure but put them together and they are stunning. Get going and work on the rest girl, I can't wait to see it finished!
ReplyDeleteCheers
Helen

ReplyDeleteOooh lots of pretties here. Those flowers are looking amazing - take your time it's not like they are the real thing and they will die on you.

I love that blanket stitch, it makes such a nice effect. And the quilt it going to be wonderful, I love those flower blocks! Your mystery block is also beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy how beautifully industrious you've been! So many lovely things going on in Sunshine & Paradise. The bouquet quilt is coming together wonderfully. Feels like spring.
ReplyDeleteNothing better than live music! Sounds fabulous.
ReplyDeleteGreat sewing progress! Sorry to hear about your machine though!
ReplyDelete(and on another note I am very envious of your social life... with 2 kids under 3 mine is not nearly as appealing ;) )
Kat xx
I love what you've been up to today but especially the floral blocks. They look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI think if I tried hexies at this point it would completely push me over the edge so I'll admire yours from afar.
Love the buttonhole stitch ...lets hope Fanny decides to play nice so you can finish that raw edge applique.
I feel quite ashamed of my inactivity today compared to your flurry of activity.
I love that buttonhole stitch! Hope your machine starts behaving again.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately Sunday morning is house work time around here, so no pj wearing. I'll get to sew this afternoon. Love the tulip blocks. I agree that the Kaffe and batiks look great together.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of Kaffe Police or Batik Police telling you off..lol
ReplyDeleteLove that paper pieced star flower.
I saw that you won the Go! baby fabric cutter on Samelia's blog. Wanted to congratulate you :) You are going to love it. Makes cutting thing out lots of fun, but then you get distracted and spend all day cutting and forget about sewing :) Enjoy! and congrats again.
ReplyDeleteThe tulips are really beautiful. Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteSorry your machine gave you phits! I hope it works out soon!
Hope I linked properly this Sunday!
Looks like a fantastic pyjama party today!
ReplyDeleteLove your Lotus flower blocks that is going to look awesome when it's done.I stayed in my pj's all day today and READ, READ, READ....much to the disgust of certain family members. Guess what?...Don't care!
ReplyDeleteLots of loveliness!! I love that special stitch. Naughty Phanny!! I hope she's behaving better now. The tulip quilt is really special!! Nice to hear you having fun with your buddies!
ReplyDeleteYour projects are lovely - the tulip? flowers are so pretty. Those colours are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your jim-jam Sunday!
I am loving your KF fabrics combined with the batiks. Very bright and lively. My Pfaff often goes a little faffy and does loopy things on the back. Still haven't quite worked it out and it is very frustrating. Hope it sorts out for you Marg.
