Christmas crochet and a tirade

Sorry but I am about to rant!!!!!!!!
I have been busy crocheting even though I have been tearing my hair out trying to work out how to put some photos on this post. I absolutely hate Blogger today, because even though it is free, (thank you Blogger), you have changed blogger so that all my blog photos go to a Picasa web album. BUT you didn't bother to mention the fact that there is a limit to how many photos you can have in that album (1GB), UNLESS you pay to upgrade. HMMMMMMMMMMM
AND you also didn't mention that if I try to delete photos out of my Picasa web album I delete them permanently out of the blog post too. Thanks a lot Blogger. Great, really great, I really appreciate that!!!!!  I don't want my photos in Picasa web album, but I have no choice. Also when I go into my Picasa web page, I find that all my photos are ticked for everyone to see, unless I had the foresight to go in there and change the settings, great, really really great. It is US$5 a year to upgrade to 20GB of storage but I don't want my photos stored in there so why should I have to pay for it.

Now I have finished my rant, I have deleted a couple of photos from the web album that appear to be duplicated, and have enough space to load these, and now I am just going to have to pay the $5 a year if I want to keep posting photos and blogging on blogger.

I have been making these gorgeous crochet stars using this tutorial from Yvestown Blog.

I used a metallic thread I found in my stash which I've had for many many years. See it does pay to keep things that you may use one day!

I also made some white ones in a fine crochet cotton, they still need to be blocked so they stay flat and in shape.

  1. I didn't know that !!! But I do know that putting photos on my blog has changed and now I have to put them all on at once where once I could add them whenever I chose. I liked it much better the other way. Now I have to completely close the blog down and start it up again if I need more photos.
    Poop !!!

  2. Sorry about the photo issue. I haven't heard about anything like that.

I love the stars! They look so beautiful hanging on the branches. Will you be making a bunch for a Christmas tree?

  3. As for the photo issue...hmmmm. I wonder if that is why some people have their blogs in other formats besides blogger?

The crocheted snowflakes are so pretty. I'm afraid our trees will look like that before too long. Snowflakes are much nicer in thread/yarn.

  4. Forgot to say I love the snowflakes. I wonder if I am good enough at crochet to do them . I have a problem following patterns at this stage but I think I'll give them a try.
    Cheers

  5. A few people have run into the picasso space issue lately so I knew about it, but not that the photos were public on there. I'll check that one out.
Just goes to show I suppose that nothing is free!
Your stars would look great on a christmas tree. Have you any of that thin jewellery wire that you can crochet with? I did a bit a while ago and love how it came out.

  6. If you do a switch to wordpress or something - maybe you can give us all a tutorial. My husband was just telling me yesterday I should use an internet server to store my pics! He uses picasa, but keeps our family pics private. I hope you're able to work out the kinks...I'm sure it's been very frustrating. And, I hate when I have to do something because someone makes me!!! I feel your pain.

love, love, love the crochet stars. I'm glad you kept the metallic thread, but that's a line my MIL always uses, "you never know when you might need something". :)

  9. I really like the effect of those stars on your little xmas tree, very stylish!!

I can only use the old editor edition of blogger for some reason my windows blocks the new one?? so I have to put the photos in first before I write anything and then in reverse order to how I want them....the mind boggles trying to do my posts as I have to think backwards LOL I save my photos into a new folder and change the size for the blog, not sure if that helps at all??? I have had no touble with picasa by doing that??

  10. Thanks for the Blogger/web album info. I've wondered when I'm going to hit my limit. Figured it was only a matter of time.

    Your crocheted stars are gorgeous!

  11. I wondered what happened once the limit was reached, I'm at about 30% capacity at the moment, I started to compress my photos before posting them after a few months of blogging. $5 a year isn't too bad, and at least it is possible to keep on going!
    Love the sliver crochet star.

  13. oh yeah, this photo thing, I have HEAPS HEAPS of pics on my blog, I remember google saying "low on storage, pay for more" and I thought, Oh well, I'd better do that - I blog regularly. Can't remember what I paid, I think $20. Then I got an email recently (annual) and it said repay, I thought ok, but I looked at the storage usage and it said NIL, so I thought why pay? I'm not using it! So I canceled it, they said ok, and nothing has changed on my blog - so I'm at a loss about this photo issue too really... I should do a blog save just in case they delete it all one day!
