And Now For Something Completely Different

WIP WEDNESDAY lots of different projects this week

Warning: many photos.

Despite my dodgy knee which had me in bed or lying on the couch most of the weekend, I seem to have achieved quite a lot this week.  Still no finishes but I've worked on a variety of things. I'm so glad I had some English paper piecing to work on, and the Amitie Circle Game BOM couldn't have arrived at a better time. It meant I could keep myself occupied even though I couldn't stand and rotary cut fabric or sit at the sewing machine for more than a few minutes.
This week was a bit of a change of scenery for me with my sewing projects.

EPP  Star flowers

I finished another PP flower and started playing with joining diamonds.

I practiced the Circle Game block using Kaffe, wow it's vibrant. You might need your sunglasses for this one.

Starting on the "real" one now, all pinned and ready to sew.

I worked on the Flurry quilt, and finished all 16 of the box blocks.

Flurry blocks.

Here's some of the blocks ready for sashing. I still need to cut out 289459843  2 1/2inch strips for sashing. I've been putting that off for as long as possible. It's not my idea of fun.

Monochromatic Block for July
A sneak peek at this month's Monochromatic block. For once I haven't waited until the last minute. I still have to embroider the centre but at least the block is sewn.

Mystery Quilt block 6

Another Mystery Quilt star block finished. It's not as odd shaped as it looks. I still haven't started Week 5, but it involved much more rotary cutting so I made this one instead.

Finally I was supposed to put borders on the French Roses quilt, but as I was making it as a quilt as you go quilt, the broders needed to be quilt as you go too. I wasn't feeling the love for that so I've been putting it off. Every now and then looking at it and then deciding it was too hard.

The colour in this photo is a bit off and drab, the photos below are more accurate.
Yesterday I finally came to the conclusion that it was never going to be finished if I had to put borders on it so instead I opted to make some more blocks to make it bigger and do away with the borders.

It didn't take me long to cut up the background fabric, the batting, the backing and all the pieces for the flowers. All that's left to do is quilt the blocks and sew them together.  Now it's going to be 7 blocks by 5 instead of 5 by 5 with borders added.  Hopefully it will be finished very soon and that will be one less WIP, yay!!!!

  2. Love your Christmas project! So cute; can't wait to see it together. Your circle block looks intriguing and of course I love your EPP stars.

  3. Those flowers are gorgeous and i love the colour and fabric choices for all your projects

  4. Amazing! and without rotary cutting. So much accomplished. I'm loving the flurry quilts -- all three of them. I can't wait to see pictures side by side. (Sounds like you are into deficit sashing ..)

the circle game bom is crazy amazing. it looks great.

The english paper piecing is coming together nicely, what is it going to be?

The Mystery Quilt star block is also really nice. I love the black/white fabric you're using (in case I hadn't said that before).

And the French Roses quilt .. what can I say? it's amazing too. Happy for you that you've found a solution to finishing it.

  5. Busy girl.

Can't make it out too well, is the French Roses block raw edge applique? It's lovely, and good idea ditching the borders to allow you to move on.

  6. Wow just let me pick my jaw off the ground, all gorgeous stuff, love the diamonds and the flower wow eye catching and so pretty!

  7. Wowza!! You've been busy!! You've done heaps!!! And everything is so fun, and beautiful. I love your fabric choices for all your projects. Yes siree lots of goody goodness going on at your place!!

  8. Wow, love all the photos. You're WIP's are all gorgeous. Love all the bright colors. I hope the knee is starting to feel better.

  9. Just gorgeous! Which ones? All of them! The stars are probably my favorite but I also love your flowers, your monochromatic, your Christmas.... Whew, you've been busy!

  10. Loving all of it Marg, Cant wait to see the finished roses - some of my fave fabrics!

  11. Love the background brown you chose for the star/flowers. It sets them off beautifully!

I'm also really liking the Flurry quilt. I really need to make myself a Christmas quilt :)

Looks like you made a lot of progress this week in spite of your knee.

  12. Wow, how do you manage to work on so many projects! It's chaos in my sewing room and I'm only doing one (oh and the ironing!)

  13. Yes the numbers always keep going up. I haven't bought any fabric, but somehow made a few quilt tops out of my stash, yippee.

  14. Wow! For not feeling well you have really accomplished a lot! I love your Christmas package blocks and the Kaffe circles are stunning. Hope your knee gets better soon!

  15. Wow what a lot of projects on the go!! That Circle Game block looks tricky!
I hear you about the sashing...have you tried using the jelly roll solids? I keep thinking that would be an easy way to get it done, but haven't tried it yet.

  16. If this is a slow week (because of your knee), I 'd hate to see a NORMAL week!

I clicked over to your blog because of the Kaffe Fasset circle, with its brilliant coloring but after reading through your blog post, I can see you have a real skill for putting colors together. So trust yourself on the borders for the French Roses quilt--it will be interesting to see how that comes out too.

Good luck with that knee! I hate it when mortality interferes with my quilting (and other) life.

    Elizabeth E.

  17. Pretty, pretty kaffe circle game. Just love those fabrics and colours and in a circle! Wow! Love your Xmas presents too.

  18. wow! You have been very productive!!!! Nice work. That circle game block is very interesting. I think I will be googling that one!

  20. O
WOW!! you have a lot on the go...and all is lovely...I especially love the circle pretty!!

  21. Maybe you should hurt your knee every week. It's kept you anchored in one spot this week long enough so that you're kicking butt on some projects.

    Im loving those PP flowers-gorgeous.

The circle block made with Kaffe is amazingly vibrant but looks wonderful.

And french roses is coming along beautifully.

Glad to see you're working on your monochromatic block. Does that mean I wont get a July 30th email telling me you're a complete slackarse this month?

By the way since Im commenting on Thursday due to Wednesday sleepyitis -HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  22. Considering you are supposed to be resting you have been a very busy girl. Just love the Kaffe circle. But I am in awe of everything that you do Marg.

  23. Wow, I love your circle game and those gift blocks. Beautiful!

  24. You continue to amaze me with the amount of work you get through. Well done - even when you are crippled !!! ( Hope the knee is feeling better. They are awful things to injure and come back to bite you as you get older )
I love that French Roses quilt. It is so different and very pretty. Are you keeping it for yourself or is it a gift for a lucky person?

  25. Oh my gosh you have a lot of wonderful looking projects. I am really impressed with your English paper piecing and that cute rose quilt. I am going to have to follow you now as I really like your work. Glad I found you through the link up :)
