I confess I don't actually own any pretty old china, so I had to raid Bitchypoo's china, that she started collecting about a year ago. I found a lovely simple white tablecloth in my linen cupboard that I hadn't used for a long time, and set up a beautiful place to sit and enjoy a lovely cup of tea.
It was a beautiful day, the sun shining, birds singing, a gentle breeze and a perfect spot on the verandah for a wonderful afternoon tea.
I'm sorry some of these photos are a little dark as it's on the east side of the house therefore no direct afternoon sunlight. If you click on the photo to make them bigger you'll be able to see a little more.
Included in the food fest were some quintessentially Australian goodies.

Shay's idea is brilliant, it was so nice to set up out on the verandah, and also to pull out all the things I haven't used in ages. I will absolutely definitely be doing this more often. Maybe not having all the sweet goodies, but setting up the table and chairs on the verandah to have a nice afternoon cup of tea or coffee or for late afternoon drinks/cocktails with friends. What could be better than that!
It looks absolutely wonderful .. I'm wondering how to do it .. I've never had "high tea".
ReplyDeleteEverything looked gorgeous and real Aussie baking as well. Love the cups and saucers and the quilts on the chairs gave the whole thing a sense of occasion. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I remember when I was little, we used to have sunday afternoon tea at my godmothers with sandwiches without the crust, tinned fruit and cream, and the best cakes ever. This is a brilliant idea. And your setting looked absolutely heavenly. We'll be over next Sunday if that's OK!
ReplyDeleteYour setting looks so pretty. The cakes look delicious and Bitchypoo's fine china is gorgeous. I especially like the crochet cover.
ReplyDeleteYour High Tea looks lovely Marg! I knew there was something I was going to do today but just couldn't remember what it was??? My gang was all out delivering firewood so it would have been tea for one, maybe next week. Its lovely to get out all the nice stuff and those biscuits have made me hungry :-) Quilts look fabulous too!
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely Marg. How could you not enjoy time to stop and smell the roses and the tea. How does one get an invite to your next High Tea
ReplyDeleteOoh! I love your High Tea on the Verandah! Everything looks serene and lovely. What a perfect way to spend an afternoon. ☺
ReplyDeleteLittleGirl and I had our High Tea yesterday. It was great fun. Stop by and check it out. Happy Sunday night! ☺

Nothing like pampering yourself a bit. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat looks lovely! Especially the chocolate coated Anzac! I thought it was last weekend and cooked up a big batch of pumpkin scones. I was actually early for once! It's nice using the good china!
ReplyDeleteWow your high tea setting was perfect. it looks like a perfect day too. I must get out the old granny good china.
ReplyDeleteYour high tea set up on the veranda looks amazing. Love those melting moments (cant make them to save myself-they always end up looking like pancakes !)
ReplyDeleteExceedingly classy china Miss BP has there too and you're lucky she consented to you using it!
I love that silver tea pot too. I really must get myself a classy tea pot. I kind of wish I'd been at your tea party instead of my own!
You sure have some lovely silver ware to show off - Perfect setting on the verandah. Looks like lots of delicious goodies to eat too.
ReplyDeletePretty tea cups and all.
Shay - I'm not sure Marg said if BP consented or not.....
ReplyDeleteMarg - your verandah is to die for. Whether it's on the eastern side or not - it's gorgeous! So glad you enjoyed all of your favorite treats on some fancy china!
Looks delightfully delicious! Love the quilt too.. just helps set such a comfortable atmosphere! What a fun idea. No China or silverware in this house though. In fact I don't even own a teapot. Must remedy that soon I think :)
