Favourite Things Friday

Yay it's Friday again, this week has taken forever, thanks to on going verandah renovations.  It's now December and the only decorations I have on display are my Christmas crochet stars I made last week ? or the week before, (I don't remember), and my Advent Calendar.  I normally put up my tree in the last week of November so that we can enjoy it for as long as possible, however the Christmas tree and boxes of decorations are stored up in the studio, and the most direct route to the studio uses the verandah, (the one that has been out of action for the last three weeks forever.) I am crossing my fingers that I will be able to bring them down to the house on Sunday.
So this week my favourite thing is my very own cross stitch Advent Calendar. It is stored in the house, not in the studio, so I unwrapped it earlier this week and now it's sitting in pride of place.

I made this when bitchypoo was very young. I just love the detail and it's such a cute picture, although maybe not quite politically correct as Santa is smoking a pipe!

The charms are cross stitch on plastic mesh.

Take a look over at Mrs P's  to see all the other lovely favourites this week.

  1. Love the advent calendar, meant to make one sometime this year have cindeberry stitches one somewhere but I guess that can wait. The good thing about christmas is that it comes around every year so you can always finish these things one year.

  2. Oh that IS nice. How clever. I know these things take a huge amount of time so I would be keeping it in a very safe place. On day it will be considered an heirloom.

  3. Love it! Had to laugh at Amanda's comment above as I have recently got rid of a plastic canvas nativity set I had been meaning to finish for over 30 years and still only had Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus done! The fact that Christmas comes round every year is not a good incentive as I kept putting off finishing it and it never got done!!

  4. That is freaking gorgeous. How long did it take you to do that????

This is one of those things that should be handed down for ever within your family . I can see some kid being told in 60 years that great great grandma Marg made that back in the day.

    Fabulous Favourite!

  5. OMG...I'm like Mrs P...how long did it take you to do these and what about your eye sight! I so love them...I'm not into decorating over the top at Christmas, I leave that to my daughter...she loves this season!

  7. great idea, Mrs P!

I love it, Marg - you are really talented, and I think we're all wondering how long your cross-stitched your fingers to the bone to finish that!

  9. That IS an ADORABLE cross-stitch Santa Advent calendar. What a lot of work. And gorgeous like everything else you do. :-)

As for Santa's pipe smoking not being politically correct, I don't think he cares. After all, he wears a red velvet suit too. LOL!

  10. That is too cool! You really did a great job on all the cross stitching (I can't believe all the little plastic mesh thingies too). I heart Mary Engelbreit. I haven't done much decorating yet, but I did get out my favorite Christmas mug, which is M.E.!
